Great North City Games 2019
An established highlight in an action-packed sporting weekend, the Great North City Games is staged the day before Britain’s biggest running event, the Simply health Great North Run.
For the first time in 2019 the Great North City Games will come to Tees Valley, where thousands are expected to enjoy this incredible spectacle in the heart of Stockton town centre. The high-street will be transformed to host world-class athletes from around the globe as they compete alongside the very best of home-grown talent. Make sure you join us in Stockton-on-Tees to be a part of the biggest sporting weekend in the North East this September.
The event takes place on Saturday September 7th.
Tees Dragon Boat Festival
The Tees Dragon boat festival is a staple event on the Stockton-on-Tees calendar. Dragon boat racing is one of the UK’s fastest growing events and this festival is a great event for novices and experienced “Dragon boaters” to get together and enjoy the sport as well as other festivities offered by the festival.
Team sizes range from 11-20 people (with a maximum of 17 in a boat, 16 paddlers and 1 team drummer). Each team will compete in a minimum of three races with the team’s best time going towards qualification for the grand final. Races are classed as “sprint races” as they are over 200m. The final will be when the teams that have qualified with the team that crosses the finishing line first declared as the Dragon Boat Champions of Tees 2019.
The event takes place on Sunday August 31st, with Registration starting at 9.15 and closing at 9.45. This is definitely an event not to be missed.
